Been Gone for A while? You're not alone - and you're not too late.
Life is complicated. Maybe you drifted away slowly — one missed Sunday became a month, became a year, became a decade. Maybe something hurt you. Maybe you disagreed with something, doubted something, or simply got busy and let the habit fade. Maybe you walked away on purpose, and part of you has always wondered what it would take to find your way back.
The Catholic Church is not a community of perfect people. It is a hospital for sinners, a family of the broken and the striving, united by a God who left the ninety-nine to come looking for you. The parable of the Prodigal Son was not written for the people who stayed — it was written for the ones who came back. And the Father in that story did not wait for his son to finish his apology. He ran to meet him.
That is the God who is waiting for you.
Where Do You Begin?
Coming back doesn't have to be complicated. Here are some simple first steps:
• Come to Mass. You are always welcome to attend. No paperwork, no appointment, no perfect prayer required.
• Go to Confession. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the ordinary way Christ restores what sin has broken. If it's been a long time, that's okay — priests hear it all, and they are there to help, not to judge. Simply say, "Father, it's been a long time" — he will guide you from there.
• Talk to someone. Reach out to Fr. Joseph, Fr. Mathias, Fr. Javier or our parish office. There are no wrong questions and no story too complicated for grace.
