CORE Team - Adult Volunteers

Parents and Parishioners Serving as Mentors

All Ages Welcome

What is the CORE Team? A CORE Member is an adult who consistently volunteers their time to mentor youth. They are called "CORE Team Members," because they are essential to Youth Ministry. We currently serve over 300 teens in Middle and High School. It is impossible to make each one of them feel welcomed and loved without a large number of dedicated volunteers. The CORE Team is a most essential part of Youth Ministry at Most Precious Blood.

What does a CORE Team Member do? A CORE Members primary role is to serve as a table leader during each youth group night.  Each table has 8-10 Youth. The CORE Member is responsible to welcome those youth, pray for them, facilitate conversation, and serve them as a part of a team.

Who can be a CORE Team Member? Any adult with the willingness to serve. The CORE Team is made up of every age group from college students to great-grandparents. Everyone has something to offer, so we invite you to get involved with serving our youth!

If you'd like to get involved or have any questions, please contact us at mpbccym@gmail.com. Thank you!

  • Do I have to go on a retreat?

Yes, each teen is required to attend one Most Precious Blood Retreat during each year of Confirmation Preparation, two in total. They are offered in the Fall and Spring.  Please see the current Catechetical Year calendar for dates and registration links. Catholic School and Diocesan retreats DO NOT fulfill the retreat requirement

  • Is there an attendance policy?

Yes, each teen is required to attend our Sunday sessions. Teens cannot miss more than 3 classes per catechetical year. If teens arrive significantly late or leave significantly early it will be counted as a half absence. Teens are responsible for checking in and receiving name badges before entering the great hall in the St. Juliana Family Center. Then teens are responsible for signing in with their table leader at the beginning of each teaching session during Year 1 and Year 2 break-out sessions.  Teens are also allowed to bring friends to the sessions.

  • How can I make up missed classes?

Depending on the situation, Classes may be made up by attending approved faith formation events and meetings at Most Precious Blood. Determination will be on a case-by-case basis.

  • Who can be a Sponsor?

Any Catholic who is age 16 or older, has been confirmed, and is currently practicing their faith by attending Sunday Mass every week. A birth mother or father cannot be a sponsor for their teen. Sponsors can be one of their Godparents.

  • Am I required to attend Sunday Mass?

Yes, a teen in Confirmation preparation must attend Sunday Mass every week. Every Catholic is required to attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation.

  • Is the process different for Catholic School students?

Catholic School students are expected to fulfill all the same tasks outlined under Confirmation Requirements. Catholic School Students will not be required to make up missed classes throughout the year, but are still expected to be active in Youth Ministry at the Parish.

  • Is there a dress code for Life Teen sessions?

Teens are expected to dress modestly and respectfully. A few Helpful guidelines are: Shorts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee. Halter-tops, spaghetti straps, etc. are not permitted. Clothes should fit appropriately; they shouldn’t be too tight such as spandex or too baggy such as pants that sag too far. They also should not have inappropriate words or graphics. If someone is dressed immodestly, we will ask you to change to something more appropriate.

  • What if I do not have all my sacraments?

Please indicate on your registration forms that you are in need of other sacraments and we will contact you with more information. Baptism, Reconciliation and First Communion require some additional formation. That will be held on Sunday Mornings.

  • Is the process different for Catholic School students?

Catholic School students are expected to fulfill all the same tasks outlined under Confirmation requirements. Catholic School students will not be required to make up missed classes throughout the year, but are still expected to be active in Youth Ministry at the Parish.

New Paragraph

Quinceañera Mass

The Quince Años celebration is a renewal of baptismal promises and a moment of giving thanks to God for the gift of life, family, and community. Preparation for this celebration is best understood as a time of evangelization for the whole family to form and/or renew friendships between parents and youth, to experience a deeper participation in the life of the community.

Through the renewal of Baptismal promise and a special dedication to the Lord, the fifteen-year-old young lady makes a clear declaration of commitment and responsibility to the Christian community. In doing so, the values, beliefs and practices of the Christian community becomes the values, beliefs and practices of the youth. The fifteen-year-old is then challenged to learn about these key issues in the life of a Christian and make a real commitment to them.

Preliminary preparation for the Quince Anos within the Church needs to be programmed by a period of formation and Christian instruction. This is the purpose and the importance of the Quinceanera Retreat/Workshop.

The Quince Anos preparation is concluded with the Special Eucharistic celebration at the Mass and dedication to the Lord. The ritual affirms the candidate as a Christian youth committed to a life of growth and faith within the Christian community. The Quince Anos ceremony will include:

1.)  Renewal of Baptismal promises

2.)  Profession of faith and

3.)  A dedication by the young lady affirming willingness to take Mary as a model and guide.
